Matt Gasparich

Managing Director

Matt Gasparich

Matt Gasparich oversees the daily operations of the company and leads our sales team. He communicates customer feedback from training managers around the world, serving as the bridge between our customers and creative production staff.

Matt is an active member of the Seattle Propeller Club, the Global Maritime Education and Training Association (GlobalMET) and serves as the President of the Fremont Neighborhood Council.

He graduated from the University of Southern California and spends his free time hiking, skiing, traveling, and working in his yard. 

Rito Cuestas

Creative Director

Rito Cuestas

As a Nuclear Machinist Mate with the US Navy, Rito was stationed in Everett, Washington and served in the Middle East and during the SE Asia Tsunami relief effort.

His experience, both in the engineering spaces and as a "Chief of the Watch" for pier security, has made him a commodity in our technical review process which is a part of every one of our programs.

He graduated from the Art Institute of Seattle with a degree in digital film making, with a focus on writing, editing, and directing. He recently headed the development of the MTS animation division.

Rito enjoys cooking and takes pride in being a foodie. He spends his free time exploring local, state, and national parks with his Border Collie, Marty.

Phil Davies

Production Manager

Phil Davies

Phil is an art director, video editor, cinematographer, and decorated veteran of the Vietnam War.

Before MTS, Phil directed, photographed and edited a variety of news and documentary productions for Seattle’s NBC affiliate, KING 5, winning nine local Emmy Awards.

He is responsible for all aspects of pre- and post-production of video projects of any scale, from thirty second spots to hour long, multi-faceted training programs.

Phil is an avid outdoorsman. He spends his time away from the office fly fishing, skiing, and hiking.

Kate Zane

Marketing Manager

Kate Zane

Kate manages our marketing and packaging departments. She has a degree in Communications with a specialization in Advertising from Rowan University.

Kate was born and raised in the Philadelphia area. Before MTS, she was a graphic designer for Browne Inc and a marketing manager for Economics Pennsylvania. She was also a member of Philly Ad Club for 4 years.

Kate cuts loose snowboarding the powdered slopes of the Pacific Northwest and enjoys hot yoga. She volunteers for the Dianne K. Bolt Fund. She is well-versed in fashion and local food.

Noelle Paskovskis

Project Manager

Noelle Paskovskis

Noelle is a project manager in our product development department. She graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in International Studies. Before joining MTS, Noelle worked as a port agent, covering the US West Coast, Hawaii, and Florida.

Noelle is an avid traveler. She’s been around the world, visiting every continent except Antarctica. She speaks English and Spanish, and knows a little Italian. In her free time she volunteers for a culinary school and trains at a CrossFit facility.

A Seattle native who grew up in a maritime family, her relatives include a port director, commercial fisherman, and a Propeller Club Miss Maritime.

Michi Arai

Sales Manager - Japan

Michi Arai

Since 2003, Arai-san has represented MTS in Japan and is well-regarded for his experience and knowledge in the industry.

Before MTS, Arai-san was an officer for a K-Line ship and served Ship Agency Business in Yokohama and Tokyo for 28 years as a marine superintendent, general manager of liner/tramper services and shipping representation services for Senwa Shipping Agency.

Hal Calbom

Writer / Producer

Hal Calbom

Since the formation of Maritime Training Services in 1994, Hal serves as a writer, producer, and host of the Maritime Safety Series, now numbering over 50 titles.

During this remarkable collaboration Calbom has interviewed hundreds of subject matter experts from U.S. Coast Guard Captains to officers and crews manning working vessels.

His production approach is reality-based and documentary-style, based on extensive research and face-to-face networking with maritime professionals worldwide.

Hal began his professional career as a news anchor and producer. He is a graduate of Harvard College and holds a Masters Degree from the University of Exeter, England.

Rick New

Web Developer

Rick New

For the past 5 years, Rick New has worked as a website and web-application developer for MTS.

With 10 years of experience building commercial websites, he has developed a broad spectrum of sites, including for import-export manufacturing, hedge-fund management, legal-consulting, and digital film.

In a previous life, Rick was the head tennis instructor of a tennis club in Little Rock, Arkansas, played on the southern circuit, and was the former No. 2 player in the Men's 35 Division in the Pacific Northwest; not bad for someone who took up the sport at 18.
